The MACH Alliance is a non-profit organization, governed by an independent board and does not endorse specific vendors, members, or otherwise. The Alliance was formed in June 2020 to help enterprise organizations navigate the complex modern technology landscape. It aims to guide and show the business advantage of open tech ecosystems that are Microservices based, API-first, Cloud-native SaaS, and Headless. All MACH Alliance members meet certification principles that are published on the website.

Members of the MACH Alliance must embrace the MACH philosophies and principles and be microservices-based, API-first, cloud-native, and headless technology solutions. The MACH Alliance’s seal of certification ensures enterprises are selecting best-in-class microservice providers that can deliver future-proof technology.

Interview with Klevu CEO Nilay Oza and CTO Niraj Aswani

Why did you join and when? Was there a specific reason? How much do you collaborate with other MACH members and are there specific projects that have come to fruition?

Nilay Oza, CEO, and Niraj Aswani, CTO, founded Klevu with a mission to provide ecommerce retailers with an AI-powered product discovery solution that is accessible to all. Klevu was built with full API coverage in mind from the start. 

MACH principles are within Klevu DNA. Klevu grants retailers and solution integrators the freedom to be creative, build beautiful and brand-worthy websites, apps, TV interfaces, games, whatever they need to do to cut through the clutter and engage their customers — all backed by the power of Klevu product discovery.

Klevu is actively working with headless platform providers, such as commercetools, and will partner with other microservice providers to test and develop innovative ideas to continue to evolve headless technology. Additionally, Klevu will continue to experiment within linguistics and machine learning to find more ways our technology can help retailers and shoppers alike.

What are your latest innovations in the MACH space?

Headless SDK – Klevu’s new Headless SDK makes it easier for developers and solution integrators to build custom storefronts and connect headless front end experiences with Klevu’s open APIs. Written in Typescript, the Klevu SDK library also provides helpers to manage filters, cache requests, simplifying pagination, and more. This library has been built for all browser based frameworks and the Node.js environment, meaning it is agnostic and available to use with most of the JavaScript libraries in both traditional and headless implementations.

Visual Discovery – Powered by Klevu’s intelligent and proprietary AI and image processing technology, Visual Search and Visually Similar product recommendations are available out-of-the-box and require a simple image sync. For Visual Search, shoppers can use real-world photos to search for similar products. For Visually Similar Product Recommendations, Klevu AI processes 

Behavioral Personalization – With Klevu, the Personalization AI is customer-centric, driven by behavior and not demographics. This allows for the shopper to drive the journey, without stereotypes or manual segmentation. 

Klevu AI – Klevu is the most advanced product discovery technology available on the market today. The AI underpins the Klevu Discovery Platform providing semantic query processing,  product catalog enrichment on import real-time user behavior analytics based on shopper searches, product clicks, checkouts, product ratings, and the sentiment within product reviews. Recent enhancements to the AI include advanced linguistic support for most languages.

What are your plans in the next year that are set to make the biggest impact?  Are you developing new technologies that will turn existing thinking on its head?

We have an in-house AI lab which consists of research scientists that continue to experiment within linguistics and machine learning to find more ways to delight shoppers. We are exploring image processing, conversational commerce, natural language processing, and predictive analytics. We use this team to find the most cutting edge use cases and technology that we then apply to our existing products, or make new ones.

We are also exploring how Klevu AI can power other technologies, to make our proprietary technology even more accessible.
